Andre Knevel was born in Bussum, the Netherlands. Among others, he studied organ under Rutger Van Mazijk, Willem Hendrik Zwart and Dr. J. Van Stokkum. In 1975, he immigrated to Canada to be married there. His organ studies in performance and church music were completed with Dr. John Tuttle, Associate Professor at the University of Toronto.

Presently, he gives many recitals throughout Canada, the U.S.A., and the Netherlands. Concert tours have also taken place in South Africa, Germany, Romania, Czech Republic, Finland, Poland, and Russia. Just prior to the Covid 19 pandemic, he gave a highlight, solo organ performance at the Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Andre Knevel also received an invitation to give a recital at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France in 2020. Unfortunately, the fire at the cathedral forced a cancellation. He was especially honoured this past summer, to receive a renewed invitation for the year 2027.

This year (2025) it was a great surprise and honour for him to receive the King Charles III Coronation Medal in recognition of “… sharing his extraordinary musical talents across Canada and around the world… and his remarkable contribution to the arts and our city of St. Catharines.” (Jennie Stevens MPP)

Over the years, he has recorded many solo CDs on different organs. Also many recordings have been made with choirs and  with a variety of other instruments. Much sheet music of his improvisations and works have been published.

Ultimately, he desires that his music may be to the glory of the Lord.
